The Canada Pavilion in international exhibitions has always been that it was essential to see among the national pavilions, and the Canada Pavilion at Expo 2010 Shanghai should not be an exception. In early 2009, the Canadian government has formally accepted the lot of 6000 square meters of houses in the American section of Area C of the Expo site, which is one of the largest sites of flag. The Canada Pavilion hopes to welcome over 5.5 million visitors over a period of 6 months and the exhibition will showcase the world of Canadian culture, advanced technology and urban development. The creative concept design was developed by Cirque du Soleil, a major entertainment company in Montreal, and a famous name synonymous with modern production of theatrical circus. Cirque du Soleil is also responsible for organizing the public presentation of the flag, the production of the cultural program, and development of strategic alliances of firms under the theme "Active City: inclusive, sustainable, creative." The pavilion was designed around a public open space that is its centerpiece. The pavilion's design includes a theater where visitors can watch the Cirque du Soleil before visiting the area of the main pavilion. The overall budget for the pavilion will be 45 million Canadian. The pavilion organizers have also made the concepts of environmental protection. Portions of the exterior walls of the pavilion will be covered with greenery and rainwater will be collected by a drainage system for use inside the pavilion. The theme "Active City: inclusive, sustainable, creative," developed following consultations and interviews across Canada, is a mirror at Expo 2010 in Shanghai with the theme "Better City, Better Life" and reflects the Canadian history and democratic values. The United Nations has recognized several Canadian cities for their excellent quality of life. At Expo 2010, the Canada Pavilion will aim to present Canada as a modern, multicultural, democratic, bilingual. The city of Montreal in the province of Quebec plans to showcase its environmental complex of St. Michael in areas of urban best practices of the Expo site. The Shanghai Expo invited cities around the world that demonstrate livability, sustainable urbanization, protection and use of historical and heritage of technological innovation in the built environment to display their best practices.
