The ceremony commemorating the start of construction on the roof of Shanxi, was held at the Expo site in Shanghai with the theme "A dynamic new era." The pavilion was designed to use the dougong, a wooden arch whose design is unique to Shanxi and represents the most ancient Chinese wisdom, to be a visual emphasis and to use language to demonstrate modern science and modern technology and a sense of beauty. The dougong, a cascade of wood, seems exquisite and luxurious as the peak of perfection. It realistically displays the charm of ancient architecture in Shanxi. The structure designed with powdered charcoal briquettes, which is energy efficient and environmentally friendly, a new method to enhance appearance and give the illusion of texture. lamps lit LED will cycle through images on the exterior walls for outline the three main cultural traits of Shanxi famous in the world, including the Yungang Grottoes, the ancient city of Pingyao and Mount Wutai, and paper cuts, shadow puppets, the Yellow River, the mountains Taihang and other folk arts and customs peculiar to the people of Shanxi. Through the monitoring system installed on the walls, visitors can enjoy videos showing the beautiful landscapes of Shanxi. The interior of the house makes full use of terraces in Shanxi, the bridge flying fish pond, the Apricot Country and other items showing the characteristics of Shanxi that tightly integrate the traditional style of Shanxi with the zeitgeist. Pavilion include Shanxi three sections, including the road from the city that is human civilization, the light of the City representing the energy and dreams of the City representing a harmonious life. History of Shanxi and human civilization, energy resources, science, technology and harmonious future must be demonstrated, respectively, according to the development of the city. The first exhibition area is the road to the city that represents the human civilization.
